Abstract
A two-level quantum system is known as a qubit in quantum computing. In this paper, we present the basic properties of this system in an oscillating magnetic field, as described by Isidor Isaac Rabi, a Nobel Prize winner in 1944. Because Rabi was born in Rymanow, he is particularly close to the scientific community of physicists from Rzeszow, the capital of the Podkarpacie region in Poland. Therefore, we supplement the paper with basic facts from Rabi's life in the field of his scientific work. We also discuss his emotional connection to his birthplace. The paper indicates that even Rabi's grandchildren consider Rymanow a special place in their lives.
