Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate the adhesion between an aluminum alloy and a carbon fiber-reinforced laminate. For this purpose, samples were prepared for tensile, tear, and shear strength testing. At the beginning information on laminate composites, their types and their components have been presented. To perform the tests three types of samples were prepared, consisting of a carbon fiber laminate and a PA6 (AW-2017) aluminum alloy laminated with L-285 epoxy resin into a single composite. An aluminum alloy with an unsealed anode, an aluminum alloy with a sealed anode, and an aluminum alloy without an anode coating were used. During the breaking test, it can be seen that the aluminum alloy with an unsealed anode exhibits the highest adhesion strength. In this case, the breaking moment of the sample is clearly visible. It can also be observed that the joint in the laminate sample with the aluminum alloy with an unsealed anode is much more resistant to shear than in the other samples.
