Abstract

Switching mode power supplies - due to a high efficiency and relatively good output voltage parameters- gained immense popularity. This fact leads to the search for solutions, which will ensure continued development of these devices. Progress in technology of electronic components has led in recent years to construction of high performance voltage converters. Substantial reduction in price of specialized digital signal processors has resulted in the formation of a new trend – called the ‘intelligent control’, which allows for dynamic adjustment of control to load and supply variations, providing greater energy efficiency in wide range of operating parameters. The use of microcomputer also simplifies implementation of a PID controller to stabilize the output voltage, providing excellent stability and resistance to disturbances. The paper demonstrate such solution by selections PID controller functions for microprocessor controlled converter. The correct tuning of PID algorithm is usually difficult for the engineers. The analysis of the problem begins with the mathematical description of the controlled plant, next an appropriate method for tuning is selected, simulations are performed, and finally convenient for electronics engineer - tuning procedure is proposed.
